Message I wonder if its possible to develop something that might assist you in downshifting / rev matching your 5sp for max torque in a rolling situation...

Say you know your max torque is at 4500rpm for example (turbo lag)....

Then I imagine a read out that measures current gear/rpm which turns on a light when you reach the minimum rpm at that gear so when you downshift to gear below all you need to is rev-match to 4500rpm and release clutch for max power.

Like shifting from 4th to 3rd gear ratio is 1.3 to 1.0 respectively... if you did the math say you were at 3200 rpm on 4th... you'd need to accelerate at that gear to 3500 rpm and maintain it (Hopefully the said device indicates down shift now via light) then i would revmatch to about 4500ish and gear down to 3rd and be at 4550 rpm without changing speed due to gear ratio... and be at the the max torque range.

I dunno... what I'm talking about really just playing with our gear ratios and rpms on my excel spread sheet... I hope I dont get flammed.
